Nina Cedergreen

Nina Cedergreen is Professor in Environmental Toxicology at the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. She has worked extensively with understanding mixture effects of toxicants and other stressors such as temperatures and parasite/diseases on plants, algae and a range of invertebrates, with the aim to unravel physiological mechanisms of interactions. Nina Cedergreen has been part of an EFSA expert opinion group on using toxicokinetic and toxicodynamic models for risk assessment purposes, and on an EFSA guidance document on how to deal with mixture effects, bringing ecotoxicological knowledge in use for risk assessments of pesticides. She currently hosts a Grand Challenge Program on the Environmental Safety of Biotechnological Plant Protection Products based on Double Stranded RNA and Peptides (ENSAFE.dk), where focus is to fill in the scientific knowledge gabs needed to make a safe assessment for the use of these new types of Plant protection Products in agriculture.
